SLOVENIA
Slovenia lies at the heart of Europe, where the Alps and the Mediterranean See meet the Pannonian plains and the mysterious Karst. It's a small wonderful country full of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, forests, caves, hills, plains, rivers where you can ski in the morning and swim in the Adriatic Sea in the afternoon.
LJUBLJANA
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, was founded in the 15th century. In the middle there is a hill with a castle and the river Ljubljanica, where you can see our four dragons taking care of the capital. If you walk or ride through our beautiful park Tivoli you arrive to our district Šiška where our school is located.
Richard Jakopič Primary School
Richard Jakopič Primary School is a healthy and ecological school with more than 600 pupils from 6 to 15 years old and about 60 teachers. We start classes at 8 o'clock and finish at 1:30 in the afternoon, but we can stay at school till 5 pm, because we have sports, chorus, a drama group, languages as English, German, French and Spanish. We are very good researchers, actors, singers, athletes, painters.
We have participated in Socrates, eTwinning, Comenius and Erasmus projects which have motivated our students to acquire new skills, to practice foreign languages, to develop their ICT skills and to socialize with children from different countries and cultures. The first international meeting of children who learn the Spanish language ¡Hola chicos! was held at our school. As we have many children with migrant background from different countries and some students with special needs we have specific experience solving problems of integration and inclusion into the host society.
